Nuit blanche à Montréal

Galerie BAC and the artist Derek Evans are proud to take part in the 10th edition of Nuit blanche à Montréal in collaboration with MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE, presented by Hydro-Québec.

The inspiration comes from the third part in the Dante Alighieri poem “The divine comedy”; the main character travels within ten spheres to meet his love one.  The installation will bring the viewer into the universe of Dante and will permit him to follow the journey presented in the section “The paradise”.

Each sphere will be unique and interactive, since they are all different states of mind and lessons to be learned.

Derek Evans is a visual artist who has been working and living in Montreal for the past 10 years. Graduating from Concordia University's BFA program in 2007, Evans has quickly developed his own distinct style, perfecting a personalized approach right out of art school; it is esoteric even, in its labyrinthine method of arriving at an end product. A finished work by Evans resembles nothing so much as a maze of quasi-biomorphic materials, caught in the glow of some strange, almost alien, light source. His early interests in uniting depictions of light and space with a strongly tactile feel for the surface texture of things can be seen front and center in his current practice.

Please note Nuit blanche à Montréal will be on Saturday, March 2nd 2013. The site will be accessible at 8pm and we will be closing our doors at 3am on March 3rd, 2012.
